i went into town again today to set up my bank acocunt and invest in some snow pants. i get to td canada trust to find out that i need to make an apointment to set up a bank account. i of course can't do this yet because i don't know my work schedule. however i was guaranteed by the bank that if i call on monday they will fit me in next week. i'm beginning to think i will never get my bank account set up.
this afternoon was rough. i was pretty homesick. after i got back from town i went back to my room and read for a bit then took a short nap and went to dinner. after dinner i tagged along with the OREC [outdoor recreation] staff to B3.
B3 is canada's largest indoor skatepark. tonight i learned two things there. number 1 ballerina balance does not a skateboarder make. on the second trip across the floor [what was deemed level two] we were supposed to push off and then put our back foot on the skateboard. i definitely fell flat on my butt it was relatively graceful and didn't really hurt as much as i thought it would. apparently all my ballet training has made it almost impossible for me to skateboard b/c i keep wanting to put my feet together instead of spread them out. so dont' worry mom i probably won't come back with a skateboard doing any major tricks. number 2 it's AMAZINGLY FUN to run towards a vert ramp with full pads fall into the ramp and slide back down to the floor.
i'm still getting razzed about how mcuh i bundle up in these frigid temperatures. however, i think i'm SLOWLY getting used to the FRIGID temperatures here. it's been between 10 and 15 below [celsius]. i'm told it may get to 20 and 25 below. last winter it got all the way down to 30 or 35 below. so if you're reading this PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE pray for temperatures that aren't too much lower.
best quote of the night: "note to self get a bigger coat" matt after seeing the end of bridget jone's diary.
